Day 1: Ouarzazate – Erg Lihodi (Mezaouria)
We depart from your hotel around 7:30 am. We pass through the Anti- Atlas mountains with amazing views to reach Agdz, one of the most important sites of the Draa region. We will visit the kasbah of Tamnougalt that denotes more about the history of the area. We continue through the Draâ valley along the palm groves and small family gardens to Zagora, the capital of the Draa region and important station of the Toumbouktou caravane. After lunch in Zagora, we drive to Tamgroute to visit the Koranic library and pottery cooperative. Then, we take the track way to the erg Lihodi (“known as a belonging to the Jews”). Arrival and installation at the bivouac. Dinner and night under the tent.
Day 2: Mezaouria – Chegaga
we Pass through M’Hamid and visit its kasbah. Then, we have the amazing camel trip to the Sacred Oasis (oasis of 20 palm trees lost in the desert with a spring that flows all the year). After Lunch. We head to the dunes of Chegaga (the biggest area of dunes in the region, 300 m by 40 km) . Arrival on time for the sunset. Dinner and folklore show Night in the tent.
Day 3: Chegaga – Ouarzazate
For the “early risers”, enjoy the charming view of the sunrise over the dunes. Breakfast and departure for 90 km of track through various desert landscapes (Lake Iriqui, Hamada, mountains, fossils). After Lunch in Foum Z’Guid, 1st village after the desert, we take the road to Foum Z’Guid towards Taznakht, the city of hand-woven berber carpet . Visit the cooperative of traditional carpets to see how women wive carpets. Subsequently, we continue our way through the anti-Atlas mountains( volcanic mounts) to reach the Ksar of Aït Ben Haddou, a Unisco worldwite heritage site and bedrock of Hollywood film making. After the outstanding visit of the Ksar, we drive to Ouarzazate around 18 pm.
