Desert tour from Agadir beachs
Day 1: Agadir- Taroudant- Ait Ben Hadou- Ouarzazate
After breakfast, we depart towards Ouarzazate and the south of Morocco, via Taroudant where we visit its old medina, one of the oldest capitals of Morocco at the time of Saadit dynasty, which has kept intact the character of its past. You can admire its typical crafts in the souk. Then, the road takes you to the lunch place where you will visit the kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage site. In the afternoon we continue to Ouarzazate where you can visit the city. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
Day 2: Ouarzazate- Agdez – Zagora – M’hamid
In the morning, we depart in 4 × 4 towards M’hamid passing through N’Tinifift Tizi and the valley of Draa with its thousand and one kasbahs, enjoying the outsdanding views and landscapes of the biggests ouasis of palms in Morocco (around 200 km.) On the way, visit the kasbah of Tamnougalt through the palm grove of Drâa, then we will join the main road to Zagora, the capital of the Draa region and an important station of Toumbouktou caravane (52 days as used to be in the past). We will visit of the Kasbah of Amzrou and the village of Tamgroute known for its pottery cooperative, and its old library with ancient hand-written scripts and books dating back to the 11th century. We will take the road to M’hamid, where you have an appointment for the camel ride to reach the camp and enjoy a beautiful sunset in the desert. Dinner and night in Berber nomad tents.
Day 3: M’hamid – Chegaga
After breakfast, we depart by 4 × 4 to cross the desert: the sand dunes, Oasis, reg ( stony desert) Hamada( sandy desert) … to the big sand dunes of Chegaga, the biggest sand dunes of Morocco. We will have lunch under the shade of palm trees and tamarisks, accompanied by a nomadic family, if possible. In the afternoon, we will continue the way to reach the camp and have a taste of real nomad life, with all its secrets. Dinner and overnight in tent or under the stars.
Day 4: Chegaga – Agadir via Foum Zguid and Taroudant
After breakfast, we leave the camp to enjoy the charming views between Erg Chegaga and Foum Zgid, the first village after the desert. In this way, you will discover the dead dry lake of Iriqi that used to be the source of prosperous life in the area, and have a look at the fossil place known by the nomads as the dead sea Taliouine and along the dry bed of Drâa passing by Lake Iriqui. After a break in Foum Zgid, we continue driving to to Taznakht, the city of beautiful and colorful handwoven carpets (optional stop in a carpet cooperative of different types in the area).
After lunch, we will take the road towards Taliouine, famous for its saffron, then join Taroudant, also known as the small Marrakech with its red ramparts and its souks , return to Agadir at the end of the day.
